Abstract

a) The corticospinal fibre system From previous experimental studies it appears likely that almost the entire cerebral cortex contributes fibres to the corticospinal fibre system, although from a quantitative point of view the primary sensorimotor area is the most important (see Nyberg-Hansen and Rinvik 1963, for a recent review). Accordingly, the lesions in our experimental animals were made in various regions of this cortical area. A few cases from the original study (Nybebg-Hansen and Brodal 1963) will be described to show the essential findings.
