Abstract

It is known from many works that the speed of a dislocation is limited at least by the sonic velocity of the medium, see e.g. J. I. Frenkel and T. A. Kontorova [1], F. C. Frank [2], J. D. Eshelby [3], G. Leibfried and H. D. Dietze [4], J. Weertman [5] and others (cf. the references of Weertman).
