Zusammenfassung

Wir haben in der Sinnesphysiologie zwei Wege, um das Geschehen im lebenden Körper zu untersuchen. Wir können einerseits von den Vorgängen der peripheren Reizung aus weiter vorzudringen trachten, andererseits können wir nach dem Schema des psychophysischen Parallelismus aus den Sinnesempfindungen einen Rückschluß auf die ihnen entsprechenden Vorgänge im Gehirn machen. Beide Wege können wir auch bei der Untersuchung des Geruchssinnes beschreiten.
