Part of the book series: Topics in Boundary Element Research ((TBOU,volume 2))

Abstract

The study of propagation of surface waves and their interaction with fixed or floating bodies is of great interest to structural and ocean engineers. The problem is generally defined over a fluid region of infinite extent. This, together with the fact that the boundary conditions on the free surface of the fluid are nonlinear and the location of the free surface is time-dependent makes its solution rather involved.
