Characteristics of the Vitamin D Binding Protein in Different Species

  • Chapter

Abstract

Since 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25-OH-D3) is bound to serum and cytosol proteins, its metabolism could be largely dependent on the characteristics of these binding proteins (9, 7). Moreover, as these binding proteins are used for the measurement of 25-OH-D3 (1, 8, 2) optimalisation of this assay could result from better knowledge of this binding.
