Abstract

The activation of DNA- and RNA-metabolism in transforming lymphocytes is accompanied by an increase of the whole metabolism of the cell; especially the activity of the glycolytic and oxydative enzymes is enhanced [1, 2, 4, 5]. Morphologically

Table 1. Mean values of transformed lymphocytes in cultures with (P-culture) and without added phytohemagglutinin (N-culture) counted 24 to 96 h after onset of cell Culturing

a higher number of mitochondria in the lymphocyte corresponds to this findings [1, 2]. In our investigations the O2-uptake of transformed lymphocytes was measured in daily intervals after addition of the stimulating agent.
