Abstract

We have witnessed as increase in the perinatal survival of the erythroblastotic patient since the advent of exchange transfusions in 1946. This increased survival has been due to better pediatric care of the newborn infant and judicious induction of labor (Boggs, 1964; Evans, 1956). Lately, the accurate diagnosis of the disease and its severity by amniotic fluid analysis has helped the pediatrician and the obstetrician to plan the optimum time of delivery and treatment, thus increasing the survival rate of affected fetuses.
