Abstract

The authors have studied the evolution of a star-of twelve solar masses, using the computer program of Hofmeister, Kippenhahn, and Weigert. The calculations started with a chemically homogeneous model of 4,4 percent heavy elements, 60 percent hydrogen, and 35,6 percent helium. The general lines of evolution were found to be similar to, but much more rapid than for the most massive star hitherto investigated by the Kippenhahn & Weigert group. In the final stages the procedure became inefficient even with very short time steps; thus we were forced to stop our program. The results are given in tables and diagrams, the symbols of which are already familiar in this field of research.
