Le but de ce Chapitre est de permettre d’obtenir des exemples dans les chapitres ultérieurs, spécialement les Chap. VI et IX.
Pour le reste du livre, seule la lecture du No.1 est indispensable et la lecture des No.1, 2, 4 (partiellement) et 5 suffira essentiellement. Les No.3, les compléments du No. 4, et les No. 6, ..., 10, donnent des exemples ou des résultats plus spéciaux ou plus élaborés.
Le No.3 contient les résultats principaux relatifs aux espaces de Sobolev H m (Ω) (ainsi qu’un problème non résolu).
Il est sans doute superflu d’ajouter que ce chapitre n’a nullement pour objet une étude complète des problèmes abordés!. Outre l’ouvrage de S. Sobolev [5], et les articles cités dans le texte, on pourra consulter Agmon [1], [2], Agmon Douglis Nirenberg [1], Browder [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], [12], Morrey [5], Schechter [1], [2], [3], [4], et le rapport de Magenes et Stampacchia [1].
