Humoral Regulation of Eosinophil Granulocytopoiesis

  • Chapter
Experimental Hematology Today

Abstract

Studies on the humoral regulation of granulocytopoiesis have, for several reasons, met with frustration since the beginning of experimentation on this problem. Stimulators for the initiation of granulocytosis are ubiquitious, resulting in uncontrolled and undesirable variables. Increased medullary granulocytopoiesis can usually be demonstrated following leukemoid reactions, regardless of the stimulus. Techniques for the reproducible quantitation of meaningful parameters of granulocytopoiesis have not been available in the past.
