Il ruolo dell’acido folico nel metabolismo delle proteine e dei nucleoproteidi è stato largamente studiato in numerose ricerche sul metabolismo dei batteri e l’interesse suscitato dai risultati ottenuti ha fatto si che tale ricerche venissero estese con successo anche al metabolismo degli animali superiori (1-2-3-4).
