Abstract

A variety of cysts is found in the placenta, some of which have a readily traceable histogenesis, others are of obscure origin. In general, cysts are more common in mature placentas and, with respect to the septal cysts and those on the chorionic surface, there appears to be a relationship to excess fibrin deposition.
