Experimental Studies on Airway Smooth Muscle Responses

  • Chapter
Leistungsbegrenzung von seiten der Lunge

Abstract

Airway smooth muscle in vivo is exposed to stimuli from chemical mediators, neurotransmitters, prostaglandins and exogenous drugs. Contractile responses of airway smooth muscle, in asthma and in experimental guinea pig anaphylaxis, may depend to a large extent on the balance between these contractile and relaxant stimuli, and on their interactions.

Supported in part by a Specialized Center of Reserach grant (HE-14179) from the National Heart and Lung Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, U.S.A.
