Abstract

Our knowledge of the fundamental actions of local anaesthetics has increased greatly during the past twenty years, but much of the recent data is scattered through the literature of several disciplines, and the time has come to bring these different streams of information together. The function of our panel is to act as a focal point for some of this scattered information, and we will try to bridge the gap between recent advances in basic science and their application in the clinical field.
