Abstract
The presence of fluoride has been recognized in biological materials since 1803 when Morichini demonstrated the presence of fluorine in fossilized elephant teeth. Its presence has been reported in biological samples of every type submitted to analysis, though admittedly, some of the early analytical methods employed left something to be desired when applied to such materials.
