Abstract

The ideas about the treatment of the early stages are closely related to their detection and diagnosis. Since the end of the twenties, these ideas varied between radical surgical or radiation therapy and simple local excision. They were more or less radical depending on the author’s views of carcinoma in situ as true cancer or a precancerous stage.
