Utero-tubal Insufflation and Perfusion

  • Chapter
Book cover Joint Meeting

Abstract

The diagnostic grasp of the tubal factor as the cause of female sterility presents many problems today. We have to keep in mind that the present available methods of examination may discover the impassibility of the tubes. But in no way can they show us other disorders of the physiological functions of the tubes which may be important in the occurrance of pregnancy. In other words we can discover very well the different forms of mechanical obstructions in the medium of transportation which the tubes represent. We cannot say with certainty anything about the finer functions of the tubes; for example, whether they are capable enough to transport and nourish the eggs. (Their importance was presented in the report of Dr. Mulligan.)
