Zusammenfassung

Der hypophysäre Minderwuchs beruht auf einer Hypothalamus- oder Hypophysen-Insuffizienz. Die unmittelbare Ursache des Minderwuchses ist ein Mangel an Wachstumshormon (GH = Growth Hormone; STH = Somatotropes Hormon). Die Diagnose darf nur gestellt werden, wenn die GH-Konzentration im Blut nach zwei oder mehr verschiedenen Stimulationstesten (im allgemeinen Arginin-Infusion und i.v. Insulin-Belastung) ungenügend ansteigt. Klinische Verdachtszeichen sind: zunehmender Wachstumsrückstand bei altersgemäßen Körperproportionen, angedeutete Adipositas trotz geringer Nahrungsaufnahme, kleinkindliches rundes Gesicht, fehlende oder verzögerte Pubertät.
