Avoiding the pitfalls

Abstract

The previous chapter provided guidelines for implementing an SPC programme. If followed, they should result in an organisation introducing SPC without facing avoidable obstacles. It would be insincere, however, to claim that the programme is infallible and that difficulties will not arise. The implementation programme proposed is by its very nature generic, and what may suit one organisation will not of necessity suit another. The size of an organisation and the nature of its business will affect the approach to be adopted, and therefore whatever the organisation pitfalls litter the road of continuous improvement.
