Abstract

It is disappointing, yet at the same time not surprising, that attribute charts have played a minor role in SPC programmes. The companies who have introduced charts over the years have restricted them, for a variety of reasons, to the familiar \( \left( {\bar X,R} \right)\) variety. This has resulted in a negative approach to SPC implementation.
