Abstract
The present paper focusses on the boundary element modelling of material interfaces which exhibit dilatancy phenomena. Dilatancy phenomena at materials interfaces can occur as a result of movement at a fracture plane with asperities or by virtue of a dilatant filler material such as a granular material which can be present at a joint region. The boundary element modelling is used to examine the influence of such dilatant phenomena on the global irreversible responses that develop in two layer systems subjected to a flexural deformations.
