Measurement of the Energy Gap in High Tc Superconductors by Electron Spectroscopies

Abstract

Until the recent discovery of the high Tc superconductors, the value ot tne superconductor energy gap 2Δ was mostly obtained from infra-red or tunneling measurements. The purpose of this paper is to show that high resolution photoemission and energy loss spectrocopies can give very important informations on the value of the gap, its anisotropy, its temperature dependence and the symmetry of the superconducting order parameter.
