Zusammenfassung
Physiologie ist die Lehre von den Funktionsweisen der Lebewesen. „Lebewesen“ sind zur Selbstorganisation und -reproduktion fähige Einheiten, die mit ihrer Umgebung Stoffe, Energie und Informationen austauschen. Im Nervensystem der Tiere sind die kleinsten solcher Einheiten die Nervenzellen oder Neurone. Die wichtigsten auf die Funktion dieser Zellen, die Informationsvermittlung, gerichteten Austauschprozesse sollen in Kap. 2 besprochen werden.
