Zusammenfassung
Alle Wettersysteme vom Kumulonimbus bis zum tropischen Wirbelsturm, von den Fronten der Polarfrontzyklonen bis zu den langen Wellen in der freien Atmosphäre sind Einzelformen der planetarischen Zirkulation, d. h. der Grundströmung, die der Erdatmosphäre aufgrund der Bedingungen unseres Planeten im Sonnensystem eigen ist. Um diese planetarische Zirkulation besser zu verstehen, wollen wir uns zunächst mit einem Gedankenexperiment beschäftigen.
