Zusammenfassung
Die Erfahrungen der GITSG sind sehr lehrreich. Ärzte können früher gemachte Fehler vermeiden und multidisziplinäre Behandlungsstrategien von nachgewiesenem therapeutischen Nutzen weiterentwickeln. Die Studien wurden an ausreichend großen Patientenzahlen durchgeführt, um herauszufinden, inwieweit bestimmte Therapieverfahren möglicherweise für kleine Patientenuntergruppen vorteilhaft sind. Die Summe mehrerer unterschiedlicher Therapieverfahren, von denen jedes einzelne nur begrenzt anwendbar erscheinen mag, gibt jedem Arzt in der Praxis etwas für den Großteil seiner Patienten in die Hand. Als Folgerung daraus ist es notwendig, die für jeden einzelnen Patienten spezifischen Merkmale zu ermitteln. Diese Übersicht wird sich auf die Beobachtungen konzentrieren, die für den erstbehandelnden Gastroenterologen oder Chirurgen relevant sind.
