Leaf surfaces under the electron microscope

In recent years, the increasing use of selective herbicides, insecticides etc., which are applied by spraying, has stimulated interest in the nature of the leaf surface. The efficiency of these materials is affected by the characteristics of the leaf surface, i. e. the retention or shedding of spray droplets.
