Abstract
The initiative for the INFORU M-IIASA venture in cooperation and coordination in international economic model building began in 1978. Drs. Clopper Almon and Douglas Nyhus of the Interindustry Forecasting Project of the University of Maryland (INFORU MI), spent 1978–79 at IIASA, as members of the Systems Decisions Sciences Project, laying the groundwork for and forging the beginnings of a project which has made steady progress in the intervening five years. Much of that progress has been reported elsewhere, but it is useful at present to briefly review the initial conception of the project and to remind ourselves of its original goals.1
