Zusammenfassung
Der Begriff Ökologie wurde von Haeckel 1866 geprägt, wobei er darunter die Lehre vom Haushalt der Natur verstand. Ohne die beobachtende, katalogisierende, systematisierende Phase abgeschlossen zu haben, hat man mit der kausalanalytischen, experimentellen Phase der Ökologie begonnen, um bei Kenntnis von genügend Daten computerunterstützt eine Systemanalyse als dritte Stufe ökologischer Forschung anzuschließen.
