Abstract
A solution procedure is proposed for the determination of the hydrodynamic pressures on dams with infinite reservoir in the upstream direction. Frequency-independent fundamental solutions are used in the analyses which include the effect of water compressibility.
One of the major difficulties in infinite reservoir analysis is the assessment of the effect of radiation damping. This difficulty is solved in this paper by modeling the near field and the cross-section of the far field of the fluid domain by the boundary element method with particular integrals. The upstream direction of the far field is modeled by continuum solutions. Numerical results in the three-dimensional fluid domain are obtained and compare well with available classical solutions. Results obtained in this paper are also compared with available numerical solutions where classical solutions do not exists. It is concluded that the proposed research yields accurate solutions on hydrodynamic pressures with very good computational efficiency.
