Abstract
The past five years have seen particularly significant advances in research on the causes of cancer and in the detection of cancer risk factors. This justifies the hope that cancer prevention, tumor diagnosis and tumor therapy will make rapid progress in the coming years owing to new approaches and new knowledge.
