Abstract
The enhancement of stimulated emission due to the small group velocity is evaluated by examining the light amplification spectra for a two-dimensional (2D) crystal. An analytical expression for the lasing threshold is derived and compared with numerical results that show a large reduction of the threshold due to the group-velocity anomaly.
