Zusammenfassung

Unter dieser Rubrik pflegt man in der angewandten Botanik solche Gewächse zusammenzufassen, die dem Menschen Farbstoffe, Gerbmittel, Lacke, Balsame, technische Öle, Gummi, Kautschuk und Fasern liefern. Bei den folgenden Betrachtungen werden wir nur die drei letztgenannten intensiver behandeln, weil die übrigen Gewächse, so zahlreich sie auch sind oder von lokaler Bedeutung sein mögen, doch von einer nutzvollen Domestikation viel zu weit entfernt sind. Wir denken hier z. B. an die tanninliefernden Pflanzen oder pflanzliche Farbstoffe.
