Abstract
The quest for quality has always existed in electronics assembly operations. The problem has been at what cost. An acceleration of both quality improvements and reduced inspection and rework costs has become apparent over the last two years. The trend toward better products at lower prices does not stem exclusively from the competition in the marketplace.
