Zusammenfassung

Die traditionelle Philosophie interpretiert, von der Arbeit-Spiel-Dichotomie ausgehend, den Sport als ein Spiel-Phänomen. Der moderne Leistungssport erschüttert indes diese Deutung und führt viele Theoretiker dazu, den Sport mehr in die Kategorie der Arbeit einzubeziehen. Eine andere, originelle und überzeugende, Reaktion besteht darin, den Sport weiterhin als Spiel und zugleich die herkömmliche Arbeit-Spiel-Dichotomie unter einem neuartigen Aspekt zu interpretieren. Diese Möglichkeit ist insbesondere von Sutton-Smith entwickelt worden.
