Abstract
Following successful coronary angioplasty (PTCA) patients are usually taken to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) for intensive monitoring, which, in most institutions, consists of arrhythmia monitoring and close clinical observation for angina. In patients with known coronary artery disease, however, transient ischemic episodes (TIE) may occur in the absence of arrhythmias or anginal symptoms (1–5, 11–13).
