Abstract
During recent years, numerous studies have shown that in patients with coronary artery disease the majority of transient ischemic episodes, as documented by ambulatory electrocardiographic ST-segment monitoring, remain asymptomatic (2, 5, 7, 13, 14, 15). Thus, anginal pain alone has to be regarded as an insufficient parameter for assessing the incidence and duration of myocardial ischemia during daily life (4, 10, 14).
