Abstract

In the great majority of cases, the diagnosis of myocardial ischemia can be performed on the basis of clinical and electrocardiographic criteria (11). However, even the most accurate case history, with ECG during the attack, aiming to find out the classical markers of ischemia (i.e., pain and typical ST-segment changes) cannot always reach such a goal. Although ischemia is a difficult task for whatever diagnostic tool, the use of alternative techniques for diagnosing myocardial ischemia serve the purpose of documenting the presence and features of ischemic changes independently of the ECG.
