Zusammenfassung
Körperliche Beschwerden, die jeder Mensch mehr oder weniger regelmäßig und mit steigendem Alter immer häufiger erlebt, werden gewöhnlich als normal und nicht bedeutsam eingestuft, auch wenn der Betroffene zugrunde liegende Ursachen nicht immer erkennen kann. Diese ubiquitären Beschwerden Gesunder werden erst dann zu Symptomen, wenn sie unter dem Einfluss einer seelischen Konfliktsituation verstärkt werden und in ärztliche Behandlung gelangen. Bei diesen Symptomen handelt es sich um vom Betroffenen subjektiv festgestellte Zeichen, die ihm einen veränderten körperlichen Funktions-bzw. Krankheitszustand anzeigen. Obgleich die Symptome auch für den Arzt zu Beginn wie internistische und/oder neurologische Erkrankungen aussehen, lässt sich nach meist umfangreicher Diagnostik kein organisches Korrelat finden [43]. Die Betroffenen erwarten typischer-weise eine organische Ursache, lassen sich durch negative Untersuchungsergebnisse nicht beruhigen und suchen immer wieder neue Ärzte auf. Auf diese Weise verhalten sie sich insgesamt nicht so, wie Ärzte es von Patienten erwarten, wodurch die für diese Störung typische Diskrepanz zwischen subjektiver und objektiver Gesundheit/Krankheit unterstrichen wird.
