Zusammenfassung
Die gonadotropen Hormone sowohl hypophysärer als auch placentärer Herkunft sind hochmolekulare, zusammengesetzte Eiweißverbindungen und gehören entsprechend ihres chemischen Aufbaues zu den Glucoproteiden. Es gelang die hypophysären Wirkstoffe — einmal durch chemische Präparationen und zum anderen durch funktionelle Untersuchungen hinsichtlich der Wechselwirkung mit Steroidhormonen — als zwei getrennte Verbindungen (FSH und LH bzw. JCSH) nachzuweisen. Choriogene Gonadotropine dagegen schienen kein FSH zu enthalten.
