Im Juli 1997 gab Prof. Yasumasa Kanada von der Universität von Tokio im Internet bekannt, daß es ihm und seinem Mitarbeiter Daisuke Takahashi gelungen sei, den Weltrekord für die Berechnung von π erneut zu verbessern und zwar auf 51,5 Milliarden Dezimalstellen1.
