Zusammenfassung

Diabetes insipidus beschreibt die Unfähigkeit der Niere Wasser den Bedürfnissen entsprechend einzubehalten. Klinische Folgen eines ausgeprägten renalen Wasserverlusts sind Polyurie, Polydipsie und Hypernatriämie. Ursächlich für diesen Krankheitszustand ist die fehlende Wirkung des antidiuretischen Hormons Arginin-Vasopressin. Entsprechend der Lokalisation der Störung unterscheidet man eine zentrale Form (fehlende Vasopressinfreisetzung aus der Hypophyse) und eine nephrogene Form (fehlende Vasopressinwirkung an der Niere).
