Cerebral Spinal Fluid Fistula (Rhinorrhea)
The etiologies of cerebrospinal fluid fistulas are numerous ; for example, prolonged intracranial pressure with thinning of the cribiform plate, invading extracranial neoplasm with erosion of the base of the skull, chronic paranasal sinus infection, defects in the base of the skull after removal of meningo-encephalocele of the roof of the nasal cavity, stereo-tactic trans-sphenoidal approach to the sella turcica, etc.; but, the most common cause is trauma.
