Part of the book series: Inorganic Chemistry Concepts ((INORGANIC,volume 3))

Abstract

Before we describe the Mö;ssbauer effect and the relevant hyperfine interactions, the reader might appreciate a brief summary on the background concepts connected with nuclear resonance phenomena. We prefer doing this by collecting formulae without deriving them, otherwise we would go far beyond the scope of this review; moreover, instructive descriptions have already been given at length in a number of introductory books [1.7–14].
