Zusammenfassung

Die Telemedizin, eine Integration von Medizin, Telekommunikation und Informationstechnologie, ist unbestritten ein Hauptfaktor in der zukünftigen Entwicklung des Gesundheitswesens. Anhand eines typischen Behandlungsablaufs werden die Informationswege dargestellt und untersucht, inwieweit sie sich durch Telekommunikation ersetzen lassen. Besonders verbreitete Anwendungen wie Teleradiologie, Telepathologie, Telekonsultation, Teleassistenz werden herausgegriffen und näher erläutert. Auch der Einsatz von Telekonferenztechnologie in Forschung und Lehre wird beschrieben. Zum Schluss werden typische Hindernisse vorgestellt, die dem breiten Einsatz der Telemedizin (noch) entgegenstehen.
