Zusammenfassung
Entwicklungsstörungen des Skeletts treten während der Skelettentwicklung in der Kindheit und im jugendlichen Alter auf. Es handelt sich z. T. um hereditäre Erkrankungen, die häufig generalisiert auftreten und auf einen Enzymdefekt bzw. Enzymmangel zurückzuführen sind. Derartige Störungen können auch erworben sein, wenn während des Skelettwachstums wichtige Baustoffe (Proteine, Kalzium, Vitamin D) in ungenügendem Ausmaß zur Verfügung stehen oder fehlen. Das Knochengewebe ist quantitativ (zuviel oder zuwenig Knochengewebe) oder qualitativ (z. B. Faserknochen statt Lamellenknochen) falsch angelegt. Stets kommt es zu Skelettmißbildungen durch Wachstumsstörungen. Diese Erkrankungen werden als Osteochondrodysplasien bezeichnet. Hierbei kann die Störung in den Epiphysen, Metaphysen, periostal oder endostal lokalisiert sein. Viele Formen dieser Erkrankung treten nur selten auf; andere werden häufiger diagnostiziert und sollten deshalb dem Arzt bekannt sein.
