Zusammenfassung

Synkope kann definiert werden als ein plötzlich oder rasch einsetzender, spontan reversibler Bewußtseins- und Tonusverlust infolge einer zerebralen Minderperfusion. Andere Ursachen eines kurzfristigen, spontan reversiblen Bewußtseinsverlustes, wie z. B. zerebrales Anfallsleiden oder passagere Hypoglykämie, sollten nicht als Synkope bezeichnet werden.
