Die Bestimmung einzelner Elemente

Zusammenfassung

Zum Gebrauch der nachfolgenden Vorschriften für die Bestimmung der einzelnen Elemente seien noch einige Hinweise gegeben. Den einzelnen Elementabschnitten sind jeweils die Bestimmungsgrenzen der verschiedenen photometrischen Verfahren, soweit die erforderlichen Angaben zur Verfügung standen, vorangestellt. Diese Bestimmungsgrenzen sind ein Maß für die Empfindlichkeit des Verfahrens und in, μg · ml−1 · cm (μg Element pro ml Meßlösung und je cm Küvettenschichtdicke) angegeben und werden in den folgenden Abschnitten in vereinfachter Form als μg/ml · cm (wenn nicht besonders vermerkt, stets für 1 cm-Küvetten) angeführt. Bei den angegebenen Bestimmungsgrenzen handelt es sich um jene Elementkonzentration, die einer Extinktion von E = 0,050 entspricht, wobei von der Überlegung ausgegangen wurde, daß diese Konzentration in Anbetracht der bei den verschiedenen Meßverfahren, Bestimmungsmethoden und allgemein bei Spurenanalysen auftretenden Fehlern noch mit hinreichender Genauigkeit bestimmt werden kann [1–3], die Messung darunter liegender Spurengehalte hingegen bereits mit einem zu großen Fehler verbunden ist. An anderer Stelle [4] findet man auch die E = 0,001 entsprechende Elementmenge (in μg/cm2) als „Empfindlichkeit“ definiert und für die Bewertung der einzelnen Verfahren herangezogen. In einer Reihe von Arbeiten wird neben dieser Definition noch eine „praktische Empfindlichkeit“ (meist die E = 0,025 oder E = 0,010 entsprechende Elementmenge) angegeben, da für den Analytiker die praktisch noch meßbare Elementmenge von größerem Interesse ist. Aus diesem Grunde soll auch der hier definierten Bestimmungsgrenze von E = 0,050 in den nachfolgenden Abschnitten der Vorzug gegeben werden.
