Zusammenfassung
Die Bedeutung der A. profunda femoris als Kollateralgefäß bei femoropoplitealen Verschlüssen wurde erstmals 1961 durch Morris et. al. (5) sowie Leeds und Gilfillan (4) erkannt. Eingriffe an der A. profunda femoris sind inzwischen etablierte Rekonstruktionsmethoden, einmal als ergänzende Maßnahme zur Optimierung der Abflußverhältnisse bei zentralen aortoiliakalen Rekonstruktionen und zum anderen in Form der Profundaplastik als primäre Alternative zu femoropopliteokruralen Bypassplastiken oder in Kombination mit diesen (2, 6). Verschlußmorphologische Voraussetzung für diese Eingriffe ist, daß die arteriosklerotischen Veränderungen im Bereich der A. profunda femoris zu etwa 75% auf den proximalen Abschnitt beschränkt bleiben. Diffuse arteriosklerotische Veränderungen der A. profunda femoris bis in den peripheren Bereich können ebenfalls vorkommen, insbesondere beim Diabetiker, insgesamt sind sie jedoch selten.
