„Wenn ein Mann eine Schlagberührung hat, sind Antlitz oder Wangen, der Hals, die Leibesmitte, die Arme oder Füße gelähmt.“ Diese Beschreibung einer Krankheit, nämlich des Schlaganfalls, an der etwa 1 Million Menschen in Deutschland leiden und ca. 100 000 jährlich sterben (3, 6, 7), stammt aus dem 2. Jahrtausend vor Christi Geburt, zur Zeit der Assyrer und Sumerer (Abb. 1).
