Zusammenfassung
Die Gruppe der Pyridinnucleotid-Enzyme stellt ein Bindeglied zwischen Atmungskette und Intermediärstoffwechsel dar. Die meisten dieser Enzyme gehören zu den löslichen Enzymen des Cytoplasmas oder doch zu den sog. Endo-Enzymen, die nach Zerstörung der Zellstrukturen leicht in löslicher Form zu erhalten sind. Ihre Aufgabe ist stets eindeutig: Sie dehydrieren ihre spezifischen Substrate in meist reversibler Reaktion bei gleichzeitiger Reduktion des Pyridinnucleotids (PN). Ihre Coenzyme, Diphosphopyridinnucleotid (DPN) und Triphosphopyridinnucleotid (TPN), sind verhältnismäßig leicht dissoziabel und können daher an andere Apo-Enzyme der PN-Enzym-Reihe weitergegeben werden. Aus diesem Grund sind sie nicht nur für den oxydativen Endstoffwechsel, sondern vor allem auch für den Intermediärstoffwechsel selbst, wie z. B. Glykolyse und Aminosäurestoffwechsel, von großer Wichtigkeit.
